Sister Barbara is from St. John's NL and made her profession in 2004. Sister is a retired registered nurse who is currently living in Winnipeg Community. She ministers to Youth in care at Marymound Inc. a Good Shepherd agency started in 1911 by the Sisters of the Good Shepherd. She has also cared for her Sisters in the Infirmary from 2004-2007. Sister has lived in Kenya working with the poor as part of her international experience for perpetual vows in 2010. She has served on the Leadership Team for English Sub Region of Canada from 2011 - 2014.
Sister Felicita is in Sri Lanka and made profession 1980. Sister is a trained teacher. She cordinated Good Shepherd home for girls from 1980 to 1985. Sister also worked in the Parish and in the refugee camps in north east of Sri Lanka. Sister was missioned to Canada in 2002. Today, Sister is the Coordinator of the Sharing Fair project in Toronto. Sister worked in a project in Vancouver for the refugees.
The new leadership team for the English Region of Canada was elected and appointed during the English Regional Assembly held in February 2014. The new leadership team will officially begin in March 2014. The two new councillors are Sister Felicita Thuraisingham and Sister Barbara Wells.
Sister Gilda Fernando was appointed as Regional Leader for the English Region of Canada, for the next three years beginning her mandate on March 2nd, 2014.
Gilda made her perpetual profession on December 20, 1980. She holds diplomas in Social Service Work and Child Care Service. She was involved in ministries of child care services and served as Community Leader in Sri Lanka until 1994.
She came to Canada in 1995 and has served in the ministry of Pastoral Care at Sunnybrooke Hospital and at the Tele-care Distress Centre. From 2002 to 2008 Gilda was a member of the Provincial Council.
At present, Gilda is a member of the Leadership Team of the English Region of Canada and is also the Community Leader for Good Shepherd Court in Toronto. CONGRATULATIONS!
